1/29/2000 Attention registered users! Some early v.3.01 downloads were missing a small file called COOLICK.LSN. If you can't find the Cool Licks lesson, right click to download COOLICK.LSN now. Save this file directly to your Guitar Workshop directory (normally C:\Program Files\Guitar Workshop).

Version 3.0 is here! Guitar Workshop has been going through a major revision. In general, the improvements in this release enhance the actual learning aspects of the program. Enhancements include-

Extensive chord functions included
Enhanced score display- Time signatures, measure lines, etc.
Improved score editor- Block operations (copy, paste, etc.), triplet support.
"Lefty" fretboard option
Note names display on fretboard fingering dots
"Tool-tip" help for each control
Standard Windows file open/save dialogues
4 customizable guitar sounds
A larger (1000-note) song editor capacity
To avoid confusion in the tablature line, the "held" notes are displayed in gray, while "new" notes are in black
Chord Module preview (includes just C chords)
Adjustable lead-in beats (to delay start of play)
"Repeat" function now allows auto-repeat of line or entire song
Custom tuning of each string instead of pre-defined tunings
Fretboard distinguishes between new notes and previous notes that are being held.
Capo function- easily transpose songs.
Improved tempo control and metronome functions
Larger screen area
Cleaner interface

Chord Module - unique features: The Guitar Workshop Chord Module displays thousands of chords. Not only can you choose any note for a chord root, and choose from dozens of chord types- but you can even change the tuning of the strings, and/or place a virtual capo on the fretboard. The chord module compensates for these changes and displays the correct fingering for the chords you are looking for.
Note: Demo version limited to just "C" chords.

Integrated song editor. Easily enter your own compositions or use it to enter the songs and lessons from all those guitar magazines you have. Hear how they are supposed to sound, slow them down and play along. We expect the "user-contributed songs" area at this website will become a great resource for new (free) material.
