Comments:  Being classically trained myself, you'd think that I might advocate that my students learn how to sing in a classical style before they move on to something more modern... that's not the case at all, however. Having been there, done that myself, I cannot stress enough how difficult it is to take all that classical training and turn it into something like what you'd hear listening to your favorite rock band on the radio. Instead I take a slightly unorthodox approach, by teaching very basic classical based technique, and then concentrating heavily on everything that a particular student needs for his/her chosen style. Actually, contemporary styling, and all of the "techniques" involved in creating it bear little if any resemblance to classical styling... so if you want to be the next big Rock Sensation, R&B hit or Pop Diva, give me a call, and I'll show you how! You can also visit me at my website www.remedialshock.com Rates: Voice - $55/hr ($40/ 1/2hr children under 12, Guitar, Keyboard & Bass - $35/ 1/2hr, $40/ 45mins., $45/hr

Comments:  Although most of my years of teaching have been Classical in approach, I found there was a need for teachers who can train for Musical Theater, Pop, Jazz and Country. I have, therefore, made it a point to study new approaches to singing which makes it easier to access these styles and maintain a healthful use of the voice. Comments:  Dr. Jarrett has a distinguished background as a professional opera, recital and concert soloist, a teacher at the university level, and a published author of a book on Edvard Grieg and his songs. Her large private studio has voice students of all levels and voice types. They are chorus and choir singers, college voice majors, young professionals, established semi-professionals, and those who just enjoy singing and want to improve. Dr. Jarrett's priority in teaching vocal technique is healthy, pleasurable singing. Voice lessons center around establishing a solid understanding of how the voice works and how to care for it.
